The value of locale in Ticket To Paradise is inherent in the film’s title. The rom-com, directed by Ol Parker, follows a divorced few (George Clooney and Julia Roberts) to Bali, where by they attempt to cease their daughter from marrying a area she’s just achieved. The film, like so a lot of classics of the genre, relies on its aspirational setting to augment the will-they-won’t-they storyline. It follows the figures via lush, tropical islands, to white sand beach locations with turquoise h2o, and around a luxury vacation resort in which every single area has a personal infinity pool.
While the film is set in Bali, it was not possible for the creation to shoot on location. Instead, they appeared to the coast of Australia, particularly destinations about Queensland, like the Gold Coast and Brisbane, to replicate the aesthetic and vibe of Bali. The crew, which includes creation designer Owen Paterson, scouted numerous destinations in the location to locate a selection of real-globe places to pair with established builds made at Gold Coast Studios. We sat down with Paterson to go over how Ticket To Paradise’s titular location arrived to be.

How did you develop the environment of the film? What was it like applying all of these destinations around Queensland?
It was genuinely quite a intricate process. We attempted to make it as invisible as attainable. When you’re in an art section you are striving to convey to a tale. Or, we’re telling a fib, if you like, and we’re needing to inform that fib all the way by way of the movie. So the viewers will be advised that they have gone to Bali and then they’ll journey with the film and the actors and their tale unfolding in this collection of environments that makes a planet which is its have world in Bali. It can by no means quite be Bali, but for our intents and functions it is as near to Bali as we can make it. But it’s our edition simply because the digicam sees the place our DP aims the digital camera.
